Staying at Pop Century for the first time and looking for a way to prepare your kids or family for all there is to see and do at the resort? Look no further! This calendar is full of movies and activities to feel like you're living a Pop Century life before you even enter the Disney bubble.

Pop Century Prep Movies & Activities

I sorted this calendar by decade and while your room may be in one decade, taking the time to explore the resort and seeing the decor for each decade is a must.

50's Movies & Activities

Movie Night - Lady and the Tramp. Start the week with a movie viewing of Lady and the Tramp. For an extra dose of fun, combine the movie night with spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

Movie Night - Sandlot. While this movie isn't featured at the resort, it does help to give kids a glimpse of what life was like in the 50's. We took special notice of the cars, the clothes and the phone used in the movie.

Activity - Time for a fun activity, bowling! There are bowling pins featured in the 50's section of the resort, including a bowling pin shaped pool! So get your kids to the lanes and talk up the pins.

Activity - Another activity if you can find one in a kid friendly space - jukebox! We played "Don't Rock the Jukebox" at home and I explained to the kids how a jukebox worked back in the 50's. I also heard their are some classic ones at your local Waffle House maybe (don't quote me.)

Movie Night - Back to the Future. Wrap up the 50's with a final movie night featuring - Back to the Future. Giving a perspective of life decades ago.

60's Movies & Activities

Movie Night - The Jungle Book. As featured in the 60's section of the resort, you can't miss the giant Baloo making The Jungle Book a must watch.

Movie Night - Yellow Submarine. What's more 60's than The Beatles, plan a movie night to watch Yellow Submarine. This movie was a tough one to find, but it helped showcase the vibes and aesthetic of the decade.

Activity - Activities you may have around the house - a yoyo, and playdoh! Try a few yoyo tricks with your kids. Anyone remember "walk the dog?" Spend an hour or two making playdoh figures, create an entire Jungle Book scene.

70's Movies & Activities

Activity - This section of the resort features a life-sized tricycle. While we don't have the classic big wheel, we do have a tricycle of sorts. So spend a day riding bikes, talking about the evolution. "Back in my day..."

Activity - 8-track & old telephones - my thought here was initially to go to a antique shop and find some oldies just to show the kids. We ended up just googling 8-tracks. When it came to the old telephone however my mom actually received the exact Mickey phone that is featured at the resort as a gift when she was a young Disney adult and my grandma still had it in her basement. So we went to pick it up and now I can't wait to recreate photos of my kids with the phone and the life-size phone at the resort!

Activity - Another activity based on what is featured in the resort - foosball! If you have a foosball table at your house, make a tournament for the family and then when you come across the larger than life foosball at the resort you can reminisce on your memories from home.

Movie Night - The Muppets Movie. This is much more relevant now that Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is Starring The Muppets!

80's Movies & Activities

Movie Night - The Pursuit of Happiness. This movie pulls at the heart strings, so choose the right age you feel appropriate to watch. This is another movie that just gives the vibes of the decade.

Movie Night - WALL-E. This movie may feel like a bit of a stretch for the 80's and I get it. However, in the movie WALL-E finds and collects items from the 80's such as a Rubik's cube!

Activity - Find a Rubik's cube! The Rubik's cube is featured at the resort encasing the staircase's in the 80's section. It would be the perfect activity to spend an afternoon seeing who can solve it.

Movie Night - Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Honestly, a classic! So many characters to see throughout the entire movie. Thick story line which took some explaining to my oldest kiddo. But with a life size Roger Rabbit at the resort it was worth the watch.

Movie Night - Pixels. A great watch to get in the gamer mindset. Heavy focus on Pacman which is featured on the walls/rails in the 80's section.

Activity - Get to a local arcade or bring the arcade home. Play some of the classics, especially Pacman.

90's Movies & Activities

Activity - Rollerskating! In the driveway, at a rink. Put on some skates or watch the kids skate around, play some 90's tunes to really get the feel of the 90's.

Movie Night - Space Jam. This movie screams 90's nostalgia and is a must watch for families in general.

Activity - Break out your old CD or tape collections. It's unlikely you still have a walkman but you can talk about how music use to be enjoyed in the 90's and have fun remembering the playlists you burned onto CD's in your younger days.

Activity & Movie - Toy Story - Mr. Potato Head. As a feature in the 90's section of the resort you can plan an entire evening around this activity. Click on Toy Story, break out the Mr. Potato Head & Mrs. Potato head and play.
